The mm-to-cm SED of spiral galaxies

چکیده

The mm-to-cm range of the Spectral Energy Distribution spiral galaxies remains largely unexplored. Its coverage is required to disentangle contribution dust emission, free-free and synchrotron radiation can provide constraints on models, star-formation rates ISM properties. We present case for a synergy between NIKA2 observations nearby spirals those from planned current instrumentation at Sardinia Radio Telescope, report pilot K-band program search Anomalous Microwave Emission, an elusive emission component which presumably related dust.

Modelling the UV to sub-mm SED of Starburst Galaxies

This paper reviews the theoretical modelling of starburst galaxies with particular emphasis on the importance of the gas-phase physics in determining the form of the continuum SED and the emission line spectrum. Both line and continuum diagnostics have been used as star formation indicators. Here, we examine from the point of view of the theory how reliable each of these indicators may be, and ...

from linguistics to literature: a linguistic approach to the study of linguistic deviations in the turkish divan of shahriar

chapter i provides an overview of structural linguistics and touches upon the saussurean dichotomies with the final goal of exploring their relevance to the stylistic studies of literature. to provide evidence for the singificance of the study, chapter ii deals with the controversial issue of linguistics and literature, and presents opposing views which, at the same time, have been central to t...

Sub-mm Counterparts to Lyman-break Galaxies

We summarize the main results from our SCUBA survey of Lyman-break galaxies (LBGs) at z ∼ 3. Analysis of our sample of LBGs reveals a mean flux of S850 =0.6±0.2mJy, while simple models of emission based on the UV properties predict a mean flux about twice as large. Known populations of LBGs are expected to contribute flux to the weak sub-mm source portion of the far-IR background, but are not l...

Application of the global modal approach to the spiral galaxies

We have tested the applicability of the global modal approach in the density wave theory of spiral structure for a sample of spiral galaxies with measured axisymmetric background properties. We report here the results of the simulations for four galaxies: NGC 488, NGC 628, NGC 1566, and NGC 3938. Using the observed radial distributions for the stellar velocity dispersions and the rotation veloc...
